States to receive $1B in stimulus funds for water projects

The federal stimulus package will provide $1 billion for water infrastructure projects, including the repair of aging dams and upgrades to water-delivery systems. California is slated for $260 million, while nearly $108 million will be used for irrigation and upgrade projects near the lower Colorado River, and $88 million will aid Arizona projects. California also announced a $29.4 budget that will be used to upgrade a national earthquake monitoring network.
