University of Miami launches bridge monitoring program

A new $14 million program launched by the University of Miami's College of Engineering will monitor Florida's bridges. The system will harness the vibrational energy from bridge traffic to power the monitoring devices, which will in turn relay data to wireless sensors. The Long Key Bridge in the Florida Keys will be among the bridges included in the study.
