Fish-killing virus is detected off Apostle Islands

The U.S. Geological Survey and the National Veterinary Services Lab confirmed that viral hemorrhagic septicemia has spread to the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior near Wisconsin. The lethal fish virus had been previously detected and confirmed in far-eastern Lake Superior and Duluth-Superior, and efforts are under way to prevent it from progressing to inland lakes.
