Study: H1N1 flu can lead to kidney damage or failure

Canadian researchers who studied the cases of 47 severely ill H1N1 flu patients found that two-thirds developed kidney injury or had kidney failure. Among those, 11% required dialysis and 16% died, according to the study. Medical providers should be aware of possible kidney damage in patients hospitalized with the H1N1 flu, the researchers said.
