Device may offer alternative to fundoplication for severe acid reflux

Torax Medical's Linx Reflux Management System, recently approved by the FDA, may be an alternative to fundoplication for people with serious recurring acid reflux, but physicians say it remains unclear how effective the device is long-term. Patient Brian Dahlquist had acid reflux disease for more than 20 years and says the Linx system has given him his life back, while company studies found most patients did not need daily medication one year after having the system implanted.
