GE looks to develop "industrial Internet" at Calif. facility

General Electric is recruiting talent from enterprise-software providers such as Oracle and Symantec to work on a project that will infuse intelligence and social networking in heavy equipment. The company's vision of the so-called industrial Internet will be created at a $1 billion facility in San Ramon, Calif., and focus on developing information sources to help railroads and airlines operate more efficiently.
