Report: Microsoft OS for ARM-based tablets to be called Windows RT

Microsoft has decided that Windows 8 will be the name of the next-generation operating system running on x86-architecture processors from Advanced Micro Devices and Intel, while the new OS for tablet computers based on ARM Holdings processor designs will be called Windows RT, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing people briefed on Microsoft's plans. Microsoft is also said to be developing a full suite of "Windows on ARM" tools, with versions of Excel, PowerPoint and Word that can run on ARM-based computers.
