Some parents, teachers defend longer summer breaks in UK

Students, parents and teachers in the United Kingdom are responding to questions over the length of the summer holiday. Anthony Seldon, headteacher of Wellington College in Berkshire, said the breaks are a time for teachers to pursue other interests, and 6-year-old Katy Miller said the breaks are a time for students to relax. Marek Kaminski, who has taught at schools with shorter summer breaks, said the time off is important, given the growing pressure on educators.
