Sugar opponents see danger; others are sweeter on subject

Dr. Robert Lustig, professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, is considered a leader in the anti-sugar movement, saying sugar is "toxic." But Joanne Slavin, professor of nutrition at the University of Minnesota, said the claim against sugar is alarmist. "Sugar isn't a poison -- diet is more complicated than any one single villain," Slavin said.
