API notes increase in Q1 oil well completions

Oil well completions rose 20% to 8,705 in the first quarter, compared with figures in the same period in 2012, according to the American Petroleum Institute. "Additional access to our own vast energy resources and streamlined federal permitting would allow for more opportunities to produce U.S. energy while creating more American jobs and generating more revenue for our government," said Hazem Arafa, API's statistics director. Natural gas well completions, on the other hand, fell 26% to 2,175 in the first quarter compared with to the same period in 2012, API said.
