An op-ed in the Palm Beach Post contained several inaccuracies about ethanol, writes Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. Contrary to what the op-ed stated, small-engine makers have made adjustments for E10 and are making the same for E15, Dinneen notes. Ethanol cuts greenhouse-gas emissions, lessens reliance on imported oil and is "the cleanest, most affordable source of octane" in the market today, Dinneen points out. Moreover, ethanol production creates a high-protein product called distillers dried grains with solubles that is highly in demand among livestock growers, Dinneen states.
