Groups find schools are good place to change lifestyle behaviors

Groups such as Common Threads and Kaiser Permanente's Community Health Initiatives for Healthy Eating and Active Living have found it is easier to change the school environment than it is to change the neighborhood environment when implementing programs to encourage healthier behaviors. Linda Novick O'Keefe of Common Threads writes that her organization tries to reach children at school, where it can get their attention, to develop healthy habits that carry over to the home.
