Groups find schools are good places to change lifestyle behaviors

Groups such as Common Threads and Kaiser Permanente's Community Health Initiatives for Healthy Eating and Active Living have found it is easier to change the school environment than the neighborhood environment when implementing programs to encourage healthier behaviors. Linda Novick O'Keefe of Common Threads said her organization tries to reach children at school, where they can get their attention, to develop healthy habits that carry over to the home.
