Mobile-malware instances more than doubled last year, firm says

The number of instances of malicious software created for mobile devices grew from 25,000 in 2011 to 65,000 last year, an increase of 163%, NQ Mobile says. Most of that malware was directed at Android-based devices, 32.8 million of which were infected in 2012, the company estimates. The report also noted that threats are becoming more intelligent. In February, malware was found that could jump from phone to PC.
