Regulators call for benchmark rates to be based on real trades

A panel of regulators worldwide is emphasizing a need for benchmarks to be based on real trades. "To promote market integrity, it is critical that benchmark interest rates be anchored in observable transactions and supported by appropriate governance structures," said U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Gary Gensler, who leads the panel.
