Retail brands turn to wholesale deals for future growth

Retailers including shoe seller Aldo, which will debut its brand at Lord & Taylor in the U.S. this fall, and Loblaw-owned apparel brand Joe Fresh are increasingly turning their expansion plans to in-store shops with bigger retailers, giving them access to new markets without the expense of opening their own new brick-and-mortar stores. The trend follows an earlier one of manufacturers looking to boost sales by opening their own branded stores.
