The UltraViolet Common File Format, which will make download functions more consistent, will become available in the U.S. this year, according to Mark Teitell, general manager of UltraViolet's Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem. Asked whether Amazon, Google Play, iTunes and Xbox Video Store will join the online UltraViolet service, he said, "The door is always open for any of these companies to launch UltraViolet. ... Regarding Apple, the most important thing from the standpoint of the consumer is that UltraViolet does work on iPads and iPhones via third-party apps."
