Why are so many CFOs retiring?

Fifty-one CFOs retired in the first quarter, according to Korn/Ferry International, compared with an average of 32 and a previous high of 43 in Q2 of 2011. Some of this reflects grueling demands placed on CFOs during the recession. Going forward, finance chiefs will be the focus of a 24- to 36-month cycle of succession planning, Korn/Ferry says.
