Army to break ground on solar project at Ariz. installation this month

Ground will break later this month on the U.S. Army's largest solar-array project on a military installation. The project will generate 20 megawatts of power, which is expected to provide 25% of the electricity used at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. "The military's clean energy installation initiatives are gathering momentum, enhancing base energy security," said Phyllis Cuttino, director of The Pew Charitable Trusts, which did a study on the military's "energy saving and efficiency projects."
