Column: Summer travel plans likely to be unhindered by gas price increases

Hotels may look forward to brisk business this summer as travelers won't have major fluctuations in gas prices to worry about, Ed Watkins writes. The Energy Information Administration projects that fuel prices will average $3.57 per gallon from April to September, fluctuating in May to $3.66 per gallon and dropping to $3.46 per gallon in September. However, hoteliers may have difficulties pushing rates as travelers try to downgrade lodging preferences to fit their budget, Watkins writes.
