Michigan to review teacher colleges

Michigan is planning a new system to evaluate and rate its teacher-preparation schools, where, in a handful of institutions, fewer than 80% of first-time teacher candidates pass certification tests. The state's public schools chief, Michael Flanagan, also hopes to motivate the colleges to produce more math and science teachers.
