Couples: New Jersey civil unions not equal to marriage

Some New Jersey couples are finding out registering for a civil union doesn't necessarily entitle them to the same benefits from their employers as married couples receive. Self-insured employers and those governed by federal law, which prohibits recognition of same-sex couples, are not required to comply with the civil unions law, according to Lambda Legal, attorney David Buckel.
