GAO: Government should push hospitals to prevent infections

A Government Accountability Office report recommends the U.S. government consider mandating core hospital standards, such as hand washing, that would help reduce the number of hospital-acquired infections. The report also criticizes the HHS for failing to coordinate data across its agencies.
