Washington state unemployment rate rises

The unemployment rate in Washington increased four-tenths of a percentage point to 4.9% in March, but still managed to stay below the 5% figure that is typically the definition of full employment. Nonfarm payrolls in the state meanwhile dropped by 3,200 -- with construction, hospitality, transportation and warehousing all laying off workers.
