Distractions in the car are greater than drivers realize

New research by University of Iowa professor John Lee shows the average motorist is typically much more distracted than they realize. Lee filmed drivers' behavior just before abrupt car movements and discovered that many drivers don't realize when they're distracted by something, even when they almost have an accident. "People don't always understand the degree of distraction they may be exposing themselves to ... so the idea is to help people understand that distraction by providing them with feedback," said Lee.
