Hardscaping beautifies the garden with less maintenance

Hardscapes, or garden features such as retaining walls, walkways and patios can enhance a property's appearance without the need for maintenance or irrigation. Walkways can be used to resolve problems with grass, while walls and fences can act as windbreakers. Choice of materials varies, and homeowners interested in hardscapes should consult a landscape architect before starting a project, says Carmine Masullo, owner of Natures Image Landscaping in Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
