Metal roofs gain traction because of longevity and durability

Metal roofs are becoming more popular in some Iowa and Illinois cities because they last longer than shingle roofs and are resistant to high winds and fire. The National Roofing Contractors Association says that the demand for metal roofing materials has surged dramatically over the past 10 years. In Iowa, metal roofs are made to look like shingle roofs by painting them with a chipped stone finish and various glazes.
