Green roofs sprout on Illinois conservatory and on a New York hotel

A green roof is slated to be installed on the Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens in Rockford, Ill. The installation will consist of trays with plants, which will control stormwater runoff while protecting the roof from the elements. A 16,000-square-foot vegetated roof has also been installed at the Hilton New York hotel, which is expected to cut air pollution and energy costs at the facility.
