Lab accident leads to discovery of new semiconductor material

04/17/2012 | TG Daily

Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee say they have synthesized a graphene-based material that costs less to produce and can be used as a semiconductor, similar to silicon. The new carbon-based material, graphene monoxide, or GMO -- which was discovered by accident during an experiment -- is being tested as a potential component of more efficient lithium-ion batteries.
