Cuts put readiness at risk, say Navy, Marines

Sequestration will hamper procurement, cut into maintenance and research, and reduce military readiness, Marine Corps and Navy officials warned the House Armed Services Committee this week. The Navy is looking at cuts to weapons, aircraft and ship construction while the Marine Corps is struggling with an aging fleet of fighter planes, officials said.
