Ill. to spend $9.53B on transport infrastructure over 5 years

Illinois is set to spend $9.53 billion on roads and bridges between fiscal years 2014 and 2019, up 4% from last year's budget. However, the condition of the state's transportation infrastructure "will see slippage," according to Illinois Transportation Secretary Ann Schneider. The state Department of Transportation will direct a portion of the budget to reconstruction of the 60-year old Circle Interchange near downtown Chicago.
