Pension funds add risk to boost yield, IMF says

Seeking higher yield, U.S. pension funds and insurers are investing in riskier assets, according to a report by the International Monetary Fund. The trend is strongest among pension plans that are poorly funded, the report says. "Low yielding assets may induce excessive risk taking in a search for yield, which may manifest itself in asset price bubbles," according to the report.
