New York City Council petitions Boingo Wireless for free airport Wi-Fi

The New York City Council sent a letter to the Wi-Fi vendor for LaGuardia, JFK and Newark airports asking for a new contract that would allow the airports to offer passengers advertisement-supported free Wi-Fi instead of the current pay model. The letter to Boingo Wireless notes the current contract with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey locks the airports into a pay model. The council previously passed a resolution calling on Boingo to change the contract but heard no response from the company.
