Skywriters may be saved by social media

Skywriting came to the U.S. in 1924 and was an advertising favorite until television became the more reliable and measurable venue. The profession has been mostly a novelty since, but recently, car service Uber used skywriting planes to produce love letters over San Diego on Valentine's Day, and social media offers additional exposure. "It's immediately posted on Facebook and Twitter and all over the place. That's helping us sell more skywriting these days," said skywriting business owner Suzanne Asbury-Oliver.
