Virginia Tech students head online in wake of shootings

Virginia Tech students on Monday used Facebook to check to see if classmates were OK, posted photo and video tributes on Flickr.com and YouTube and set up a Web site to help raise funds for the victims and their families. Meanwhile, the tragedy is expected to prompt universities across the country to consider installing emergency alert systems that would issue urgent text messages to student cell phones or e-mail within five minutes.
