CMS database will monitor state health insurance exchanges

The CMS plans to create a database to monitor the development and activities of state health insurance exchanges. The Health Insurance Assistance Database primarily aims "to collect and maintain information on consumer inquiries and complaints regarding insurance issuers," in a bid to clamp down on federal health program abuse, fraud and waste, the agency said.
