Insulin resistance is tied to pre-eclampsia, study says

Data on women who have never given birth found that 40.5% of those who developed pre-eclampsia had homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance results greater than or equal to the 75th percentile compared to 24.8% of counterparts who did not have pre-eclampsia. The researchers said these high mid-trimester fasting HOMA-IR results are a significant risk factor for pre-eclampsia.
