Marcellus gas exploration to benefit from Pennsylvania rail upgrades

A plan for rail upgrades in Blair, Lycoming, Centre and Northumberland counties in Pennsylvania will benefit ongoing natural gas exploration and production in the Marcellus Shale, said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. "The construction of new tracks and rehabilitation of old ones will position the railroads to accommodate increases in rail freight traffic associated with natural gas exploration and production in the Marcellus Shale formation," said Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa.
