Daily-deal observers mark a shift to e-commerce

Growth in the daily-deals sector is slowing as many of the early entrants fall away and survivors look to diversify into e-commerce such as selling products and travel packages, Yipit co-founder Jim Moran said at the Daily Deal Summit East. Others who spoke agreed that deals sites need to try other strategies. "If you're doing the one-trick-pony deal, you're going to be out of business in a year," said Dean DeBiase, chairman of coupon site Entertainment.com.
