Funding for STEM middle school is approved for Fla. budget

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has approved spending $389,825 to help open a middle school that will focus on science, technology, engineering and math -- or STEM. The school also will include a focus on medical studies. The funding, included in the state's $70 billion budget, will help the school open in August. It is expected to enroll sixth-graders in its first year and expand in following years.
