Safety issues stall work on $400M Conn. bridge project

The Connecticut Department of Transportation on Tuesday suspended work on the $400 million Moses Wheeler Bridge project, citing four safety-related incidents, including the collapse of a 40-foot-tall reinforced steel cage and the toppling of a crane. "In each instance your workers, department representatives and the general public were exposed to significant hazards," wrote Mark Rolfe, district engineer for the state DOT.
