Wineries make going green a personal endeavor

The popularity of green practices and organic ingredients is seeping into the wine industry as more vineyards adopt environmentally friendly practices. Although there is consumer demand for the organic products, costs can easily outpace revenue, making the decision to go organic more personal than business-related. "Most of the wineries are family-owned businesses and they saw this as a better way to farm. They wanted to pass on healthier farms and businesses to the next generation," says Gladys Horiuchi of the California Wine Institute.
