Calif. students win prize for GA engine designed for sustainability

A group of students from the Sustainable Manufacturing program at California's Chico State University took home the grand prize from the Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Conference and Exposition for a general aviation engine designed to run on lower octane fuels. The sand-casting pattern, tooling and full production system necessary to manufacture the cylinder head was entirely designed and built by the student group.
