Cocoa grinds gain unexpected traction in North America

Cocoa processing unexpectedly grew in North America for the second quarter in a row, indicating increased demand for chocolate in the region. Grindings in the first quarter of 2013 rose 5.8% from a year earlier, the National Confectioners Association said in a report. Global consumption is expected to increase annually by 3% over the next five years as emerging markets continue to grow.
