Contractor on phase 2 of Va. Metrorail project could be named soon

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority could announce the winning bid for the second phase of the $5.5 billion Silver Line Metrorail to Washington Dulles International Airport by May 3. The authority will open the five submitted bids today. The contract for the 11-mile run from Reston, Va., to the airport could be worth $1.6 billion. Work could start as early as July.
