N.Y. regulator ready to lead financial-institution inquiry

New York Department of Financial Services Superintendent Benjamin Lawsky is positioning himself as a regulator willing to investigate financial institutions regarding issues such as how consultants are used to watch out for bank abuses. "A dose of healthy competition among regulators is helpful and necessary to safeguarding the stability of our nation's financial system," Mr. Lawsky said.
