Lawn mowers should be selected according to the size of the yard and they should receive maintenance to maximize their performance, according to employees of American Pride in Zanesville, Ohio. A lawn tractor or a small, zero-turn mower can suit yards that are smaller than an acre, while larger yards could benefit from garden tractors or heavier models of zero-turn mowers, said Ryan Dodson, the dealer's president. Mowers should be tuned up once a year, said Frank Dietz, parts manager of the dealership.
