Greenland ice sheet preserved ancient soil, researchers say

Soil from 2.7 million years ago has been found underneath an ice sheet in Greenland, according to research published in the journal Science. "There was a really stable landscape on Greenland before the ice sheet came. This landscape has been preserved from beyond the dawn of humankind," said University of Vermont geomorphologist Paul Bierman, the study's lead author.
