Iowa middle-schoolers use social media to help village in Ethiopia

Global studies students at Washington Middle School in Iowa recently launched a social media campaign to help a village in Homacho, Ethiopia, where needs include food, clean water as well as renovations for the community's school. The students, who succeeded in getting the hashtag #FriendsofHomacho to trend on Twitter, have teamed with nonprofit group Friends of Homacho to raise at least $1,300 for a cement floor and supplies for the school.
