McConnell: Ukraine needs U.S. arms, E.U. umbrella

Blaming the Obama administration for allowing Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., called for the U.S. to arm the eastern European nation. "Here is what I would do: I would be sending arms to the Ukrainian Army," McConnell said Thursday. "I would encourage the European Union to expand and take in Ukraine ... I would provide serious assistance to the Ukrainians so that they could defend themselves."
